20# Double Faced Sledge Hammers
- The "Mac Daddy" -- this is one big sledge hammer! 20# double-faced head atop a wooden handle.
- Forged from tool steel.
- Striking faces are precision machined with proper radius and chamfer.
- Heat Treated after machining for increased depth of hardness. (Many makers show a turned striking face. This may look more attractive but means they cut off hardened material, leaving less depth.)
- Heat treatment process produces fine grain structure and RC 45-54 (Rockwell for safety and toughness).
- Clear lacquer finish on head to deter rust.
- 36" American hickory handle, kiln dried before turning and the eye section is dried below 10% moisture content prior to assembly.
- Handle is hydraulically inserted into head and secured with a serrated aluminum wedge. A very secure mechanical bond. Some handle length if removed during fitting the handle to the head-typically 1/2 to 1".
- Meets or exceeds ASME B107.54-2001.
